YOLANDA PENA URESTE

PHARR– Yolanda Peña Ureste, 90, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026, at DHR Health Hospice in Edinburg.

Yolanda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother whose deep love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She was a devoted nurse for 48 years dedicated to the caring, health and wellness of so many, but always took the time to take care of her children’s needs including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Abel Ureste; and her parents, Marcos and Luisa Peña.

Yolanda is survived by her four children, Norma Alicia (Benito) Garza, Abel (Mariselda) Ureste Jr., Diana Marie (Mario Lizcano) Ureste Parrao, Araceli (Raul+) Ureste Perez; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
