In Loving Memory of Viola Salinas
Viola Salinas, age 85, of Alamo, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Viola was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear friend who touched countless lives with her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. She was the heart of her family and a guiding light to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Rivera Sr. and Elena Rivera; her siblings, Manuel Rivera Jr. and Jose “Walle” Rivera.
Viola is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Oscar “Okie” Salinas Sr.; her three children, Belinda (Rudy) Cantu, Oscar (Adriana) Salinas Jr., and Araceli “Cheli” (Bo) Adams. She also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Rudy (Myra) Cantu, Ruby (Roby) Cantu, Roly Cantu, Briana (Gary) Caldwell, Denise (Eric) Pena, Oscar (Melissa) Salinas III, Amber Salinas, Lauren (Sal) Lopez, Lindsey Adams, and Bo (Elena) Adams; and twelve beloved great-grandchildren: Eric Pena, Nolan Pena, Nia Lopez, Rob Cantu, Novah Pena, Bryce Caldwell, Liela Alaniz, Sofia Matos, Max, Renata, Gael, and Mateo.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mercedes Rivera, Hector “Lalo” (Nora) Rivera, and Rosa (Gus) Pena; and her sister-in-laws, Sylvia Rivera and Viola Rivera.
Viola was known for her joyful laughter, love of dancing, and her incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her laugh was contagious, her smile unforgettable, and she was often the life of every gathering. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and lived a life full of compassion, generosity, and unconditional love.
She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nothing made her happier than having her family gathered together. The memories she created with them will be treasured forever and continue to live on in their hearts.
The family extends special thanks to her devoted caretaker, Otila (Oti), for the genuine love and care she provided to Viola, and to the compassionate team at Bristol Hospice for their support and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan, Texas. Funeral service will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo, Texas. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, Texas.
Viola’s legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones, and surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
