Stephen E. Doyle

Stephen E. Doyle, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at his residence in Edinburg, TX.

Born in Brighton, MA, in 1935, he graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Waltham, MA (1953) and attended Boston College (1953-54); US Army 3 year tour (1954-1957); the University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA (1958-1960); Duke School of Law, Durham, NC (1960-1963); and McGill University, Montreal, PQ Canada (1963-1965), He held a BA (English) from U Mass and a JD (Juris Doctor) from Duke Law.

Doyle entered law practice in Washington, D. C. in 1965 and was appointed to the civil service, serving in the FCC (1965-67), the Dept of State (1967-70), the Executive Office of the President (1970-74), NASA (1974-78) and the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment (1978-81).

In 1981 he joined the Aerojet–General Corp. at its propulsion facilities in Sacramento, CA where he was employed until 1996. In 1996 Doyle helped establish Clean Energy Systems Corp. in Sacramento, where he worked until 2016.

In 2016 He retired with his wife of 60 years, Rosemary J. Nichol, to a home in Hampstead NC. Rosemary predeceased him in 2020. Doyle lived in Texas at the time of his death. They had five children: Michael P., Glenda (Heidsick), Kathleen (Edwards), Matthew L. B., and Amanda (Carmen). His son Matthew predeceased him in 2025.

He had three grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Daniel J Reeves (Alison ) with two great grandsons: Jameson and Kasey, Caroline Heidsick (Jason) Loher, Samantha Heidsick (Abby Peebles).

Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
