EDINBURG – Servando Olivarez Trevino, 83, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at South Texas Health System Edinburg.

A laborer and rancher who spent many years working the land with strength, perseverance, and pride. He was never afraid of a long days work and understood the meaning of sacrifice and providing for those he loved.

“Rancho San Jose, tierra que lo vio nacer.”

Mr. Olivarez is survived by his wife, Carmela Olivarez; four children, Arnulfo (Nydia) Olivarez, Hector (Bertha) Olivarez, Servando (Elisabet) Olivarez Jr., Victor (Rachel) Olivarez; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Eva Hernandez, Bertha Saenz, Delfina Elizondo; nephews, Santiago Saenz, Jorge Elizondo, and Lauro Saenz.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Friday, September 4, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg.

Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
