Noemi Cantu Salazar, 89, went home to our Lord Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Noemi was the President of the Women’s Conference of her church and region, San Pablo Methodist Church in Hereford, TX. She also served as treasurer, taught bible classes, led the choir, cooked for charity, prayed for communion and offering, and helped clean and maintain the church. She loved her children, but her passion was her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a perfect example of a Godly woman. She had many interests including gardening, crocheting, sewing blankets for her children, jewelry making, playing bingo, making ceramics, working on puzzles, selling Avon, and cooking which was one of the ways she expressed her love to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother who was greatly loved by her friends, especially her family, and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her two sons, Noe and Roel “Roy” Jumencio Salazar.
Noemi is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ramiro Salazar of Edinburg; two sons, Ramiro Joel (Janice) Salazar of Cleburne, TX, Jonathan Fidencio (Sylvia Rodriguez) Salazar of Austin; four daughters, Rose Mary (Simon) Camarillo of Amarillo, TX, Margot (Steven) Cortez of Hereford, TX, Omega (Leonard) Morris, Monica (Dan) Cearley, both of Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Samuel Cantu of Reynosa, Sofia Cantu, Saul Cantu, both of Los Herreras, NL, and Diana Garza of Houston.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Templo Bethel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
