ALAMO - Ramiro Salas, 58, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Born in Nampa, Idaho, Mr. Salas had lived in Alamo since 1979. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Salas is survived by three children, Jorge Salas of Nacogdoches, Texas, Ramiro (Ai) Salas, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia and Teresa Annie (Isacc) Salas-Garza of Alamo; two granchildren, Isacc X. Garza and Alex Taylor Salas; his mother, Teresa Hernandez of Pharr; five brothers, Isidro Villa, Tomas (Chavela) Salas, both of Pharr, Nieves (Bessie) Salas, Esteban Salas, both of Idaho, and Joe (Martha) Salas of Edinburg; five sisters, Georgie (Raul) Torres, Maria (Tele) Telles, both of Dallas, Texas, Gloria (Rene) Garcia, Minga Telles, both of Pharr and Rachel (Juan) Garcia of Washington; former spouse, Irma Salas of Alamo; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, October 18, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr. Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Pharr. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
