MARK BRANDON ROSS
EDINBURG – Mark Brandon Ross, 32, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas.
Just because you cannot see me does not mean I am not here. Just because I am in heaven does not mean I do not care.
Mark loved life with a passion; he loved his family and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. When he was not working, he was bowling, fishing, hunting or playing poker. If you asked Mark who he was, he would say he was just a normal person. Yet anyone with the great honor to know him knew he was more than normal. He fought for freedom, he tinkered with anything he could tear apart and put back together, and above all he was a son, brother, uncle, best friend, and a hero. Mark went to Edinburg High School and was always the life of the party. He never met a stranger, and would help anyone in need. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he received the following awards: four Expert Rifle Badges, the Sharpshooter Pistol Badge, three Sea Service Deployments, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After two tours and the rank of Sergeant, he went home to South Texas to be around his mom, dad, and brothers. He joined his oldest brother in the oil fields and found his niche. Mark was a strong worker with the admiration of everyone he worked with. On his time off, he came home to be the fun uncle to Joseph, Jordyn, and Vincent. His niece and nephews loved him for his warmth, care, and tickles. No one can step into his shoes and he will never be forgotten. One day we will meet again but only when the time is right. When you step out of the darkness, he will be in the light.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Benjamin Sandoval; and paternal grandfather, Richard E. Ross Sr.
Mark is survived by his parents, Michael and Guadalupe Ross: two brothers, Anthony Galzerano and Stephen (Susie) Ross; one niece, Jordyn Galzerano; two nephews, Joseph Galzerano and Vincent Ross; maternal grandmother, Francisca Sandoval; and paternal grandmother, Edna Joann Ross.
