SAN JUAN - Rogelio Rodriguez, 62, died Thursday, October 2, 2009 at LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas in McAllen.
Born in Alamo, Mr. Rodriguez had lived in San Juan for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Trinidad Rodriguez; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernesto and Ninfa Rodriguez; two sisters, San Juanita and Gloria Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 19 years, Anita Rodriguez of San Juan; five children, Clarissa (Edward) Rojas of Donna, Isalia (Gustavo) Gomez of Edinburg, Rogelio (Elvia) Rodriguez, Jr. of Alamo, Adrian "Charlie" (Erika) Rodriguez and Adrian Rodriguez, both of San Juan; five step children, Roxanne Rodriguez, Leeann Martinez, Joann Martinez, David Martinez and Freddie Martinez; four brothers, Cruz (Manuela) Rodriguez of Hurst, Texas, Romaldo Rodriguez of McAllen, Guadalupe (Sylvia) Rodriguez of San Juan and Orlando Rodriguez of Alamo; six sisters, Eva (+ Oscar) Contreras of Alamo, Olivia (+ Frank) Ordonez and Gloria (John) Ramirez, both of San Juan, Maria (Jorge)Trevino of Elsa, Olga Escamilla of Pharr, Yolanda (Ruben) Sanchez of McAllen; and 11 grandchildren.
A rosary was held Friday, October 2, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr at 9 a.m., today, October 3, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary contributions be made to Guadalupe Rodriguez, 909 W. 9th Circle, San Juan, TX 78589.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
