SAN JUAN- Roberto "Bobby" Garza Sr., 80 years old, entered eternal rest Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his residence in San Juan, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born on September 20, 1944 in Pharr, Texas, to the late Agapito and Josefa Garza. He was a hard-working man who provided for his family and devoted his life to them. He was a loyal employee of Jobber's Mart and Napa Auto Parts for over 45 years. Most knew him with a smile on his face and greetings of "Primito." Bobby was also well known for his love of dancing and the casinos. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, playing loteria with the family, and going to the "maquinitas" every chance he got.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Agapito and Josefa Garza; and two siblings, Agapito "Pete" Garza Jr. and Rene Garza.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Hortencia "Tencha" Garza; three children, Roberto "Bob" Garza Jr., Gracie Garza, Gladys (Johnny Joe) Luna; six grandchildren, Briana Renee Garza, Roberto "Bobby" Garza III, Sarah Kay Garza, Gysselle Monique Ochoa, Marissa Nicole (Javier) Robles, Johnny Joe (Sierra) Luna II; one great-granddaughter, Allison Grace Luna; two siblings, Raul Garza and Odilia De Luna; his favorite cousin, Oscar R. Gonzalez; and numerous family and friends.
The family would like to thank Texas Oncology and Angel Wings Hospice for the care given to Bobby.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
