ROBERT GARZA JR.
EDINBURG – Mr. Robert Garza Jr. , 78, passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a life marked by service, resilience, and devotion to those he held dear.
In his early years, Robert worked alongside his family at the Magnolia bakery, learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and caring for his community. Those lessons stayed with him throughout his life. As a young man, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. During combat, Robert was gravely wounded, losing his right eye. He carried that sacrifice with quiet strength, never seeking recognition, yet embodying courage and perseverance.
After returning home, Robert reunited with the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Yolanda, whom he later married. Together, Mr. and Mrs. Garza built a life rooted in loyalty, faith, and family. They raised two sons, Ricardo and Javier, to whom Robert was a steady presence and a powerful example of integrity, sacrifice, and unconditional love.
Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, a veteran who served his country honorably, and a man who met hardship with dignity. His legacy lives on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Jovita Garza; and siblings, Rudy (Ofi) Garza and Irma (Juan) Olivarez.
Roberto is survived by his wife, Yolanda Garza; two sons, Ricardo (Marisela) Garza and Javier (Sandra) Garza; and siblings, Rosemary (Robert) Avila, Rachel (Alex) Garcia, Rolando (Alma) Garza, Yolanda Garza, Roy (Laura) Garza, Melinda Garza, Rebeca (Raul) Guzman and Ernesto (Dee) Garza.
