Ricardo Chavez Jr. 

May 3, 1964 – September 20, 2024

 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ricardo Chavez Jr., who entered eternal rest on September 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Born in Alamo, Texas, on May 3, 1964, Ricardo was a man who deeply loved his family, community, and the simple joys of life. 

Ricardo was the proud father of three daughters: Miranda Chavez, Sophia Chavez, and Pretty Chavez, and he cherished his role as a grandfather to his granddaughter, Evan June Garza. His greatest passion in life was being a grandpa, a role he embraced with endless joy and devotion. 

Throughout his life, Ricardo found peace in the outdoors, whether it was sitting on his front porch at home, playing a game of pool under the carport, sightseeing with his daughter in Austin, Texas, fishing, hunting, camping, barbecuing, or spending time at South Padre Island. He loved basking in the sun and relaxing by the ocean, always enjoying the sound of the waves and the serenity they brought. He also enjoyed working on cars (a true gearhead at heart), playing softball, baseball, and football. 

 Ricardo was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He especially looked forward to game days, gathering with family and friends for a barbecue while watching the game. 

 Ricardo will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality, love for life, and devotion to his family. He had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and cherished, and his warmth will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

 Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo Chavez Sr. and Amada H. Chavez; his son, Ricardo Chavez III; and his daughter, Samantha Chavez. 

 Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with a 10 a.m. Memorial Service, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Interment of cremated remains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.

 Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
