RAUL ANASTACIO GARCIA

SAN JUAN-Raul Anastacio Garcia, 80, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at DHR Health Hospice in Edinburg.

Raul was a loving and faithful husband of 55 years and a patient, loving father to his children. He was a devout Catholic who served in various ministries at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish for many years. One of his hobbies was contributing letters to The Monitor. We remember the huge smile on his face and chuckle he'd let out each time they'd publish his content. He enjoyed mental stimulation such as reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was a very sharp man. One of his favorite pastimes was rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and watching sports on TV. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, family, and friends. His presence in our lives will be sorely missed as he was the strength and foundation of our family. We love you!

He is preceded in death by a son, Jose Carlos Garcia; parents, Rafael and Manuela Garcia; two siblings, Carmen Garcia and Ruben Garcia; and a brother in law, Roy Navarro.

Raul is survived by his wife, Maria De Jesus Garcia; two children, Maritza Lorraine Ortiz and Vanessa Claudette Garcia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Rafael (Doris) Garcia III, Minerva (Roy +) Navarro, and Rigoberto (Aida) Garcia; and a sister in law, Yolanda (Ruben +) Garcia.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m . Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
