PHARR- Petra Zavala, 93, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at DHR Health Hospice in Edinburg.

A strong woman of faith and a lifelong parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, her devotion was evident in her dedicated service. She was an active and cherished member of several ministries, including Divine Mercy, Rosa Mistica, and Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Petra is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto P. Zavala; her parents, Ismael and Hipolita Lopez; and three siblings, Marcelino Lopez, Victoriana Lopez, and Pedro Lopez.

She is survived by her daughter, Maria Isabel Zavala; and various nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary, Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
