Modesto Luna Jr., 79, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Modesto Luna Sr. and Engracia Luna; four siblings, Lupe Gomez, Roger Luna, Tommy Luna, Tony Luna; and a nephew, Gabriel Gomez.

Mr. Luna is survived by his wife, Dolores Luna; three children, Melissa (Alonzo) De Leon, Laura (Rene) Vega, Jaime (Karina) Luna; nine grandchildren, Victoria (Sujei Rodriguez) De Leon, Valorie De Leon, Vivian De Leon, Cody (Claire) Vega, Coltin Vega, Kayla Rendon, Andrew Cavazos, Danielle Luna, Patrick Luna; two great-grandchildren, Caysen Vega, Ayva – Blayke De Leon; seven siblings, Chilo Acosta, Rosie Barrera, Margie Engel, Rene Luna, Raul Luna, Johnny Luna, Frankie Luna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Friday December 29, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
