Minerva A. Cantu

Minerva A. Cantu, 99, died Saturday, February 7, 2026, at her residence in San Juan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel G. Cantu, Sr.; two sons, Daniel G. Cantu, Jr., and David Victor Cantu; her parents, Jesus and Celia Alvarez; a sister, Carmen Gonzalez; two brothers, Lazaro Alvarez and Eleazar Alvarez.

Mrs. Cantu is survived by her daughter, Delia C. Benavides; three grandsons, Victor Cantu, Rene Cantu, Arnold Benavides, Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
