Rosa P. Martinez

ROSA P. MARTINEZ SAN JUAN – Rosa P. Martinez, 91, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at her residence in San Juan. Born in Mexico, she had lived in San Juan and was formerly of Repueblo de Oriente, Nuevo Leon. Rosa was a loving, caring mother to her children and an extraordinary wife. She loved making “gorditas de azucar” and tending to her garden. She is preceded in death by her husband, Espetacion “Chon” Martinez; her parents, Isaac and Abelina Pruneda; and her grandson, Adrian Martinez. Rosa is survived by eight children, Nemecio (Gloria) Martinez, Hermelinda (Enrique) Montes, Aracelia (†Arnulfo) Valdez, Salome (Maria Luisa) Martinez, Emiliano (Amalia) Martinez, Leonardo Martinez, Hector (Maria Elena) Martinez, Norma L. Martinez; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a brother, Isaac Pruneda, of Merced, California. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Monday, April 6, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan
