MARICELA "LA CHIQUITA" MARTINEZ
SAN JUAN-Maricela "La Chiquita" Martinez, 79, went home to our Lord Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she resided in San Juan, Texas since 1959 and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish. Maricela enjoyed making tamales, dancing, playing chalupa, and spending quality time with her two grandchildren who were the light of her eyes. Her charisma and smile will be missed forever by her family and friends.
Mrs. Martinez is preceded in death by her husband, Aniceto Martinez (+1998); numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Mario Alberto (Esmeralda) Martinez of San Juan; two grandchildren, Mario Alberto Martinez, Jr. of San Juan and Alejandro (Cassie Cerda) Martinez of Edinburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
