PHARR- Mark Anthony Alvarez, 32, and John Andrew Escamilla, 4, died Monday, April 14, 2025, in Edinburg.

Mark Anthony is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Alvarez.

Mark Anthony is survived by his mother, Maricruz Martinez Alvarez; two siblings, Julio Garcia III and Janet Alvarez; and girlfriend, Gabriella Annette Arenas.

John Andrew is survived by his mother, Gabriella Annette Arenas; maternal grandparents, Melissa Silva- Vasquez and Carlos Vasquez; paternal grandmother; Maricruz Martinez Alvarez; maternal great-grandmother, Mercedes Rivera; and five uncles, Julio Garcia III, Benjamin, Sebastian, and Zachary Vasquez, and Javier Silva; three aunts, Janet Alvarez, Cynthia Arenas, Velissa Rodriguez; and a cousin, Julian Richardson.

Visitation will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow for Mark Anthony Alvarez at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna and cremation for John Andrew Escamilla will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
