MARISSA ACEVEDO

PHARR – Marissa Acevedo, 47, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at DHR Health Hospice in Edinburg.

Ms. Acevedo is survived by her parents, Santiago and Juanita Acevedo; sister, Melissa C. (Enrique Jr.) Diaz; two nieces, Clarissa Diaz, Analissa Diaz; and her companion of 24 years, Fernando Javier Vela.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, May 1, 2025, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. The funeral procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, for an 11 a.m. funeral service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Javier Vela, Henry Diaz, Juan Casarez, Clemente Casarez, Ernest Garza, and Oscar Munoz.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to be made in honor of Marissa Acevedo to Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville or Palm Valley Animal Society in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
