MARIA DEL SOCORRO VALDEZ RODRIGUEZ

EDINBURG – Maria Del Socorro Valdez Rodriguez, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Avalon Memory Care in Edinburg.

Socorro was born in Edinburg, Texas on November 18, 1949. It was in Edinburg where she met her husband, Jose, where they were high school sweethearts, and had recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. Together with Jose, she raised four children while at the same time managing a professional career with over 30 years of service to the federal government.

Socorro was a loving and caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, was an avid movie watcher, and enjoyed devoting time to her plants and garden. Her pride and joy were her loving grandchildren. She was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church her whole life and could always be found spreading the faith through her actions.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Adolfo and Consuelo Valdez.

Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her husband, Jose Isabel Rodriguez Jr.; four children, Jose Isabel (Patricia) Rodriguez III, Melissa Ann (Alejandro Jr.) Salinas, Mark Anthony (Edith) Rodriguez, Desiderio Lee (Evelia) Rodriguez; 11 grandchildren; four siblings, Jose Luis Valdez, Blanca Valdez, Beatriz Valdez Poe, Carlos Valdez; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Avalon Memory Care for their loving and compassionate care provided during her stay.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
