MARIA DEL ROSARIO GONZALEZ
McAllen/Edinburg- Maria Del Rosario “Rosie” “Chayo” Gonzalez, 64 found eternal rest and comfort with the Lord on Friday September 8, 2023.
Rosie was born in Edinburg on February 11, 1959. She was a graduate of Edinburg High School in 1978 and a member of the “Rancheritas” all female Mariachi group from Alamo in the late 70’s as a violinist. She served as a manager of several Adult Day Care services where she took pride in helping the elderly and seniors in need.
While we will miss her presence and giving spirit, we will also celebrate the life she lived and all the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness and selfless ways of helping others. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with her smiles, wit and love of family.
As we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is resting in the lasting embrace of our Lord without pain or suffering. Her beautiful spirit is ever resonating so brightly among us all.
Rosie is preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe Gonzalez Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Monique Casares and family Jer and Ava; her life partner, Sylvia Zermeno; her beloved pets, Nicco, Alexa and AJ; her mother, Ramona Gonzalez; her sisters, Rosalinda Gonzalez, Maria Elida (+Leonel) Martinez, Yolanda (Tomas) Herrera, Herminia “Minnie” (Rosendo) Beltran, Sylvia (Martin B.) Reyes, Sandra (Adolfo) Garza, Patricia (+Victor Prado) Ramirez, Laura (Ruben) Palacios; brothers, Lupe (Enriqueta) Gonzalez Jr., Johnny (Sandra) Gonzalez and Mario (Irma R.) Gonzalez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral Service will take place at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg.
Serving as pallbearers are her nephews, Guadalupe Gonzalez III, Damian Gonzalez, Tomas Herrera Jr., Leonel Martinez Jr., Jaime Ramirez Jr., and Roque Beltran.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
