MARIA ORELIA RAMIREZ

EDINBURG – Maria Orelia Ramirez, 83, passed away at Hidalgo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. 

Maria served for 30 years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg, and enjoyed helping local funeral homes for over 15 years praying the rosary for families. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Julia Cortez; six siblings, Gloria Yolanda Cortez Munoz, Argelia Cortez Chapa, Angelica Cortez Arce, Enedelia Garza, Pedro Garza, and Abel Cortez. 

Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her three children, Nora Ramirez, Leticia (Robert) Velasquez, Noel (Dulce) Ramirez; six grandchildren, Robert Velasquez Jr., Robelli Velasquez, Aaron Canchola, Ana Vela, Bradley Ramirez, Brandon Ramirez; four siblings, Marisela Cortez Iglesias, Gracie Cortez Quintana, Alma Rosa Cortez Delgado, and Emma Cortez Lopez.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
