MARIA GUADALUPE "LUPANA" LANDA

ALAMO - Guadalupe "Lupana" Gonzalez Landa passed away peacefully Friday, May 30, 2025. She was 99.5 years of age. Lupana was born December 12, 1925 to Jose Maria and Segunda Gonzalez in Dr. Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She lived in Dr. Gonzalez until the age of 22 when she moved to Alamo where she joined her brother and sister-in-law, Modesto and Raquel Gonzalez. Lupana worked as a domestic helper and sold movie tickets at night at the local theater. It was there where she met her future husband, Flavio Landa. They were married for 56 years and had three children, Adelina, Sylvia, and Juan.

Lupana and Flavio spent the early years of their marriage migrating to Idaho and Oregon for work in agriculture. The education of her children was such a priority for Lupana that she stopped accompanying her husband. She was extremely resourceful and conscientious about the family's finances consequently, "the family never went without" in spite of sporadic agricultural work. Her hobbies included working on the yard, playing bingo, and occasional trips to Las Vegas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Flavio; two grandchildren, Ann Marie Landa, Carlo Mancillas; three brothers, Jesus,Tomas, Modesto; four sisters, Alicia, Elida, Angelica, and Sara.

Lupana is survived by her three children, Adelina (Hilario) Lopez, Sylvia (Juan) Mancillas, Juan (Velma) Landa; six grandchildren, Mandy, Rolando, Alex, Omar, Erich, and Therese; 13 great- grandchildren; a sister, Josefina Gonzalez; a brother-in-law, Roel Landa; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, June 2, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

The family would like to extend special recognition and deep gratitute to Delia Gamez (provider), Hilda Morales (night caretaker), Janie Hernandez (respite caretaker), Rosie and Juan Garza, David Landa, Roberto Farias, Rudy Ortez, Maria Morales, Rebecca Ramirez, Olga and Menchy Baldazo, Urbano Solis, and the Raguenel family for their care, love, concern and frequent visits to Lupana.

The family would also like to thank 'Vida de Paz Hospice Agency' and their staff, plus 'Te Brindo Consuelo Home Care Agency' for their quality of care and prompt response to helping make Lupana's final days comfortable.

Additionally, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love, concern and support during this time.
