Margarito “Mike” Niño, 94, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen. Mike was born on June 7, 1931, in Edinburg, Texas. He lived a long and fruitful life and was devoted to his family whom he cherished. As many of you know, he also loved working on Sudoku puzzles which he worked on until the day before he joined our Lord.

In 1955, Mike married the love of his life, Celia Peña Niño, who survives him. He is also survived by their three children: Rachel (Andy Villarreal) Niño, Edward Niño and Yvette (Steven) Donovan; seven grandchildren: Stacey Coronado, Michael Donovan, John Niño, Roberto Niño, Christopher Villarreal, Anita Villarreal, Angelina Villarreal; three great-grandchildren: Jonah Williams, Nolan Gomez, Oliver Villarreal and his brother, Carlos (Yolanda) Niño, of San Antonio, Texas, whom he lovingly referred to as his “partner” and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Coronado; his parents Eduardo Niño and Eulalia Jasso Niño; four siblings: Hilario Niño, Eduardo Niño, Jr., Maria Zamora and Beatriz Bonner.
