Margarita T. Gutierrez, 92, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Margarita was the family matriarch. She embodied strength, resilience, devotion, love, and a strong moral code. Each of her daughters, with hearts full of gratitude, speak of Margarita’s labors of love through their childhoods and into their adult years. Their stories always tell of the clothes she sewed meticulously by hand – always striving to make sure her daughters were well dressed. They tell of the warm meals always on the table. And they tell of Margarita’s delicate balance between nurturing and guiding – teaching them to be equal parts soft and strong. Her grandchildren, with memories worth their weight in gold, speak of a grandmother who loved to spend time in el jardin, organized the best tamale assembly lines in her garage, hosted vibrant family’s posadas navideñas, loved to play Loteria, and always had Joyas and Gansitos stashed for her grandchildren.
Margarita was also a woman of tremendous faith and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church for decades. She believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ, with all her heart and took comfort in the promise of eternal life by His side.
Those left to cherish her memory are also left to embody her legacy. Through her fortitude and tireless sacrifice, Margarita forged a path that enriched the lives of those she leaves behind – and generations to come. She is loved beyond measure and will be missed deeply.
Margarita is preceded in death by her husband, Arcadio Gutierrez, whom she shared 54 years of loving marriage with. Together they built a beautiful life that centered around their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her nine daughters, Hermila (Juan Manuel) Hernandez, Maria Luisa (+Guillermo) Pineda, Nora Elia (Raul) Martinez, Norma Elisa Gutierrez (+Javier) Bustillos, Emelia (Adolfo) Gamez, Margarita (Ricardo) Hernandez, Hilda Nelly (Raul) Olivarez, Maria Guadalupe (+Rodrigo) Perez, Maria De Jesus (Ariel) Serna; 27 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
