MANUEL GUTIERREZ JR.

EDINBURG – Manuel Gutierrez Jr., 69, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.

Manuel was a very social person liked by many. He was a fun-loving person, always making people laugh. He would never say no to a beer or two which ended up as an all nighter. He loved to fish, share his memories of the Army and the 1st Calv. Infantry. He was a proud soldier. He would always tell my brother and I , “Don’t worry about the weather, as long as we’re together.”

To his truck driver friends and family this is Uncle Jr’s last 10-4.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Gutierrez Sr. and Isidria Chavez; two siblings, Clemente (Olga) Gutierrez; and Norma Llamas.

Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his daughter, Patricia Elisa (Oscar Jr.) Saenz; son, Jason (Heather) Gutierrez; six grandchildren, Alessandra Inez Gutierrez, Oscar Javier Saenz, Elianna Sophia Gutierrez, Emma Leigh Saenz, Nicolas Jay Gutierrez, Cristian Julian Saenz; seven siblings, Juana (Cirilo) Villarreal, Rosa (Fernando) Delgado, Maria Luisa (Ruben) Alfaro, Maria Guadalupe Alfaro, Roberto (Vicenta) Gutierrez, Carlos (Victoria) Gutierrez, and Jesus (Vanessa) Gutierrez.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
