Maria G. Mancias

October 6, 1935 — February 11, 2023

Maria G. Mancias, 87, entered into eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer at her home on Saturday, February 11, 2023, on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Maria was born in Rowena, Texas to Pedro and Julia Garza on October 6, 1935. She was a lifelong resident of Alamo, Texas and an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church, where she served many years with joy, humility and total dedication in the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Altar Society and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Maria, a devoted Matriarch of the Mancias family, radiated Christ's light as she served family, friends and neighbors with compassion, humility, love and mercy. She was proud to have been employed by the P.S.J.A Nutrition Department where she served students, greeting them with kindness and a smile. She was humbled when students would thank her for her kindness. Maria enjoyed dancing, singing, praying, and sharing her joy with others. She welcomed visitors with heartfelt greetings and sent them with a blessing of "Dios te bendiga / God bless you." Her presence will live forever in our hearts.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Vida de Paz Hospice, Dr. Francisco Rugama, Dr. Joseph Litam and all their staff, as well as Fr. Rene Angel.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ramon L. Mancias; a daughter, Sylvia Mancias; a grandson, Josue Noe Salazar; her parents, Pedro and Julia Garza.
Mrs. Mancias is survived by her eight children, Ruben (Anna) Mancias, Fernando Mancias, Ramiro (Maribel) Mancias, Ramon (Mary) Mancias, Jr., Delia (Joe) Alaniz, Delma (Eduardo) Singleterry, Elvia Luna, Rebecca Mancias; two sisters, Julia Cardona, Antonia Garza; and a brother, Vicente Garza. Maria loved and cherished all of her 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
