Luis Antonio Garza

Luis Antonio Garza, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Edinburg, Texas.

He was born in Los Ramones, Mexico, to Antonio and Felipa Garza. Luis dedicated nearly three decades of service to the PSJA Independent School District, where he retired as Director of Maintenance and Operations. His commitment and leadership left a lasting mark on the community he served.

Luis is survived by his wife, Hilda Hernandez; children Cynthia Yo Garza Schammel and her husband Steven, Erik Luis Garza and his wife Claudia; cherished grandchildren, Ethan Steven, Olivia Eden, Kailey Ann, and Ryan Erik; siblings, Socorro (+Vicente) Martinez, Irene (Mike) Cano, Napoleon (Maria) Garza, Heriberto (Lori) Garza, and Diamantina (Juan) Pena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luis’s legacy of hard work, service and love will live on through all who knew him, especially his children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary, Friday, September 26, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
