Lucinda Mesquitic

SAN JUAN – Lucinda Mesquitic, 90, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at her residence in San Juan.

Lucy was one of the founding members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She faithfully served those in need in our community with a generous heart and a willingness to help wherever she was needed.

She would accompany other members in delivering food to the homes of families in need. She also helped organize and sort clothing for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, making sure those who needed assistance could receive what they needed.

During her final years of volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul, Lucy continued to serve by helping prepare food for those in need in our community. Her dedication and compassion were a beautiful example of putting her faith into action.

Lucy also generously supported our parish community by helping with the St. John the Baptist Parish Festival. Whether serving those in need or helping with parish activities, Lucy was always willing to give her time and talents.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Soila Gonzalez; and two brothers, Mario and Pedro Gonzalez.

Lucinda is survived by her husband, Esequiel Mesquitic; eight children, Veronica Mesquitic, Aida (Gilbert) Carreon, Maribel Berns, Esequiel (Belinda) Mesquitic Jr., Maria Del Rosario Mesquitic, Maria Nelly Rodriguez, Elodia Guevara, Juan Mesquitic; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ramona Sepulveda.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, August 24, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Service with take place at 12 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
