ROSALINDA G. LOPEZ
EDINBURG - Rosalinda G. Lopez, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2021, in Edinburg, Texas. She was born in Mission, Texas, to Fidel and Victoria Gonzalez. She was the youngest of eleven children. Being the youngest of the Gonzalez Montalvo family, she was cherished and adored by her entire family.
Rosie met the love of her life, Raul Lopez, Jr., during her high school years. They married at our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Mission, Texas, on July 30, 1961. And God blessed them with a family of three daughters, Leticia, Marisela, and Yvonne, and two sons Raul III and Tom.
Along her path, she played, studied, laughed, and worked with family and friends. Her life was full of compassion and love and she exemplified many more beautiful qualities throughout her life.
Through Rosie's personal growth, a store flourished, La Rose Jewelry & Gifts, and continues to serve our community for over 40 years.
La Rose was not just a boutique of unique gifts but a place where Rosie would greet you with a gorgeous vibrant smile. She would open the doors of La Rose to help those in need. She would encourage and influence others to find their path to living their best life. La Rose was more than a boutique; it was a place where friends would gather, to live and love.
Our mother was captivating and vibrant and devoted her life to her family. She loved the roles of a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her voice and laughter were a joy to be around.
Our mother loved our father, and their marriage and commitment to each other have and always will serve as an example of love, strength, and unity. We are blessed to have been able to watch our parents enjoy life together and see the extraordinary love they had for one another.
Our mother was our life teacher. She taught us that success would not be handed to us. She instilled in us that we were responsible for our happiness, which could only be found within ourselves. She taught us how to be strong but never overpowering or demeaning. She taught us to listen and respect everyone but especially each other, reinforcing her lessons on the importance of family.
Although she is no longer physically with us, she will always be a part of our hearts and lives in spirit. We thank God every day for choosing her to be our mother, as we are truly blessed to have had the privilege of being her children. We will continue to teach our children and their children the lessons we have learned, for our mother will never be forgotten.
Rosie was predeceased by her father and Mother Fidel and Victoria Gonzalez and siblings Estela, Alvaro, Arturo, Juan Eliazar, Rodolfo, and Jose Jesus Gonzalez. She is survived by her siblings Fidel (Lydia), Lilia, Flerida, and Enedelia Gonzalez, and sisters-in-law Zulema and Emma Gonzalez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived her husband Raul Lopez, Jr., and children: Leticia, Marisela (Tom Nowakowski), Raul III, and Yvonne Lopez, as well as her grandchildren; Ashley Villarreal (Roland Villarreal), Thomas John Nowakowski and Allison Nowakowski; and great-grandchildren Dylan Ray, Avery Rose Villarreal, and Levi Gunner Nowakowski.
Rosie, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, and friend. May God's angels carry you through the skies to meet our Creator, God the Father. Rejoice when you hear God speak and tell you, "Well done, my faithful servant. Well, done". You will forever be dearly loved and missed.
Our songstress, our Yellow Rose of Texas, is now in heaven singing with the angels. Her spiritual presence will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of the Lopez, Gonzalez Montalvo, Nowakowski, and Villarreal families.
