LINDA J. GALAVIZ

EDINBURG – Linda J. Galaviz, 76, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Brewster Galaviz.

Miss Galaviz is survived by three siblings, Lauro (Olga) Galaviz, Leonel Brewster Galaviz, Norma Guerrero; six nieces and nephews, Jessica (Ricardo) Salinas, Jennifer Galaviz, Marcus (Tiffany) Galaviz, Erik (Eina) Galaviz, Michael John (Veronica) Guerrero, Kimberly Galaviz; six great-nieces and nephews, Brittany Nicole Salinas, Troy Anthony Galaviz, Brandon Nicholas Salinas, Bryahne Nayeli Salinas, Kaylee Dezyrae Galaviz, Tristan Andru Galaviz; two great-great-nephews Ayden Jeremiah Torres, and Marcus Isaiah Galaviz.

Linda was the heart of the family, always extending a helping hand and words of wisdom. She was more than an aunt, but a second mother to all her nieces and nephews. Through her quiet grace and elegance, she blessed all those she came across and left a lasting impression on everyone's heart. Her family is facing the loss of a kind and warm soul which cannot be replaced or replicated but deserves to be celebrated.

Her kind heart and dedication to her family extended to her loyalty to the Hidalgo County Head Start Program where she was employed as the Executive Secretary for 57 years and worked alongside every Head Start Director since the program's opening.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 105 E. Warren St. in Pharr. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.

Pallbearers will be Erik Galaviz, Marcus Galaviz, Michael John Guerrero, Troy Galaviz, Brandon Salinas, Tristan Galaviz; Honorary Pallbearer will be Ayden Torres.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
