EDINBURG – JUANITA IRENE ESCOBAR

Juanita Irene Escobar, 81, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at South Texas Health System Edinburg, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Pharr, Texas, Juanita spent most of her life as a proud resident of the Edinburg community. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose presence brought warmth and joy to everyone around her.

For nearly 30 years, Juanita worked in the front office at Haggar Manufacturing as a secretary. She was known and loved by everyone there — admired for her professionalism, her bright personality, and her willingness to help anyone who needed her.

Family was the center of Juanita’s life. She poured her love into every milestone and moment — attending school events, cheering on her grandchildren at the livestock shows, and supporting her family in anything they set out to do. She enjoyed traveling and making special memories with her beloved husband, Santos - whom she first met while dancing, a joy they continued to share throughout the years. She found joy in watching cooking shows, working through Sudoku puzzles with expert precision, going on weekly movie outings at the cinema, and spending as much time as she could with those she loved.

Juanita had a gift for making people feel at ease. She always chose to see the best in others. Her calm, poised demeanor and gentle spirit were a blessing to all who knew her. She was truly the light in every room and will be remembered for her grace, her laughter, and her unwavering love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Loreto and Maria De Leon; her siblings, Loreto De Leon Jr., Aroldo De Leon, and Maria Nellie Medina.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Santos Escobar; her children, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Killion, Edyanna (Juan) Villanueva, and Daniel (Taylor) Escobar; her adored grandchildren, Matthew Killion, Luke Killion, Taylor Killion, Victoria Villanueva, and Andres Villanueva; her sister, Nora Izaguirre; her sister-in-law, Angie De Leon; and numerous extended family who will forever hold her in their hearts.
