CARLOS GARCIA JIMENEZ

PHARR - Carlos Garcia Jimenez, 90, died on September 14, 2009 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

He was born on March 10, 1919 in Hualahuices, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a long time resident of Pharr, Texas and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. He became a carpenter at a very young age, and continued to practice his trade creatively in his later years. He enjoyed tending his garden, and raising morning doves.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fortunato and Agustina Garcia; and a brother, Pedro Garcia.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife Delia Garcia; his children, Carlos Garcia Jr., Miguel Angel (Matilde) Garcia, Fortunato Garcia, Jose Manuel (Lucy) Garcia, Martha (Juan Meza) Garcia, Mirna (Wayne) Pearson, Ma. Magdalena Garcia, Sandra Garcia, Claudia (Jose) Guajardo; his step-daughters Irma (Jesus) Velazquez, Isabel (Victor) Trevino, Delia (Guillermo) Zamora, Olga (Jaime) Yzaguirre; seven other children from his marriage to Ana Maria Garcia (deceased); numerous nieces and nephews; numerous grand children and great grandchildren; and his siblings, Jose Garcia, Manuel Garcia, Tito Garcia, Hortencia Moreno, and Paulita Garcia.

The family will gather at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan from 5 to 9 p.m., today, September 16, 2009 to receive friends and family. The recital of the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 9:00 am at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
