Jesus “Jesse” Estevis

October 28, 1951 – October 4, 2026

Jesus “Jesse” Estevis, 74, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas. Born in Edinburg, Texas, Jesse spent most of his life in the Rio Grande Valley. In 2024, he and his wife, Elva, moved to Central Texas to be closer to their children. Jesse’s life reflected his commitment to serving his country and caring for his community. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970, he served in Frankfurt, Germany, until 1973. Upon returning to South Texas, he began a career in law enforcement as a police officer in the Edcouch-Elsa area. In the early 1980s, he joined the U.S. Border Patrol, serving in Falfurrias, Texas, before transferring to the U.S. Customs Service as an inspector in Hidalgo, Texas. After leaving federal service, he worked in private security and later became a correctional officer at the Evins Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Edinburg, where he eventually retired.

Witty and funny, Jesse had a gift for making people laugh. His humor brought joy to family gatherings and everyday conversations, and those who knew him will remember the laughter he so freely shared. Above all, Jesse loved his family. He was always looking for a reason to bring everyone together for a barbecue, enjoying the simple blessing of having the people he loved around him .Jesse loved the outdoors and had a special fondness for German Shepherds, sharing much of his life with one by his side. Once he discovered YouTube, it quickly became another favorite pastime. A devoted Catholic, Jesse held his faith close to his heart and cared deeply about his community.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Estevis and Candelaria “Lala” G.Estevis, both of Edinburg. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elva Estevis, of Marble Falls, Texas; his children, Daniel Estevis and wife Beth, of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; Christy Brothers and husband Dustin, of Johnson City, Texas; and Arthur Alcantar, of San Antonio, Texas; his sisters, Janie Estevis, of Edinburg, and Sylvia Salazar and husband John, of Alamo; hisseven grandchildren, Aaron Brothers, Arthur Alcantar, Taylor Starr Alcantar, Atreyu Stone Alcantar, Ayden Pheonix Alcantar, Seth Estevis, and Danielle Estevis Longoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jesse leaves his family with treasured memories of his humor, his love, and his desire to keep them close. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
