EDINBURG – Petra Jasso, 89, died Saturday, November 13, 2010, at her son’s residence in Edinburg.
Born in Marion, Texas, Mrs. Jasso has lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose C. Jasso; four brothers, Julio, Demencio, Trinidad, Enrique Alvarez; two sisters, Adela Cedillo, Teresa Salazar and a son-in-law, Enrique Ocanas.
Mrs. Jasso is survived by her six children, Lily Ocanas, Jorge (Lupita) Jasso, Jose Jasso Jr., Belinda (Encarnacion) Salinas, Judy (Rene) Pena all of Edinburg, Homero (Becky) Jasso of McAllen; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Tomas Alvarez of Albany, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, November 15, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Pallbearers will be Jorge Jasso Jr., Homer Jasso Jr., Ronald Joseph Jasso, Jamie Javier Salinas, John Eric Pena, and Robert Jasso. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Andrew Davila.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
