SAN JUAN – James D. Poe, de 71 años, un devoto servidor de Dios, esposo amoroso y querido padre y abuelo, falleció en paz el miércoles 3 de diciembre de 2025, rodeado de su familia. Fue un hombre cuya vida se caracterizó por una fe inquebrantable, generosidad y un corazón que derramaba amor en todas las personas con las que se encontraba.
Nacido con una vocación en su vida, James comenzó su labor misionera en México con solo dieciséis años. Allí abrazó la cultura, perfeccionó su español y encontró no solo su propósito, sino también el amor de su vida, Guillermina, con quien compartiría décadas de su vida. Juntos construyeron una vida basada en la fe, el servicio y la familia.
James tenía muchas pasiones, pero pocas le proporcionaban tanta alegría como la música y los viajes. Con una guitarra siempre a mano, utilizaba sus cantos para adorar, consolar y compartir el mensaje del amor de Dios. Su voz y sus melodías tocaron innumerables corazones más allá de las fronteras y las comunidades, dejando una huella que perdurará en la memoria de quienes le escucharon cantar.
Dedicó toda su vida a difundir la palabra de Dios, no solo a través de sus predicaciones y misiones, sino también a través de su amabilidad, humildad y el ejemplo que daba cada día. Conocer a James era ser testigo de una vida vivida con sinceridad, compasión y propósito.
Le sobreviven su esposa de 47 años, Guillermina; sus hijos, Rayda, James Vincent (Carmen), Daniel (Karen) y Andrew Poe; cinco nietos, Alex, Álvaro, Daniela, Iris y Luke; su madre, Rayda Sanderlin; y sus hermanos, June y David Poe, que llevarán para siempre en su interior su espíritu, sus enseñanzas y su amor. A James le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Dan M. Poe, y una hermana, Iris Fuentes.
Aunque su viaje terrenal ha terminado, su legado de fe, música y amor permanece. Su familia se consuela sabiendo que ahora descansa en la presencia del Señor al que sirvió tan fielmente, reunido con sus seres queridos y cantando los himnos que tanto apreciaba.
El velatorio comenzará a las 5 p. m., con un servicio de oración a las 6 p. m. el domingo 7 de diciembre de 2025, en la funeraria Memorial Funeral Home de San Juan. El funeral tendrá lugar a las 10 a. m. del lunes 8 de diciembre de 2025 en la capilla de la funeraria Memorial Funeral Home. A continuación, se procederá al entierro en el cementerio Roselawn Cemetery de McAllen.

SAN JUAN – James D. Poe, 71, a devoted servant of God, loving husband, cherished father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, surrounded by his family who adored him. He was a man whose life was marked by unwavering faith, generosity, and a heart that poured love into everyone he met.
Born with a calling placed on his life, James began his missionary work in Mexico at just sixteen years old. There, he embraced the culture, perfected his Spanish, and found not only his purpose but also the love of his life, Guillermina, whom he would walk beside for decades. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, service, and family.
James had many passions, but few brought him as much joy as music and travel. With a guitar always close by, he used his songs to worship, to comfort, and to share the message of God’s love. His voice and his melodies touched countless hearts across borders and communities, leaving an imprint that will live on in the memories of those who heard him sing. He devoted his entire life to spreading the word of God — not only through his preaching and missions, but through his kindness, humility, and the example he set every single day. To know James was to witness a life lived with sincerity, compassion, and purpose.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Guillermina; children, Rayda, James Vincent (Carmen), Daniel (Karen), and Andrew Poe; five grandchildren, Alex, Alvaro, Daniela, Iris, and Luke; his mother, Rayda Sanderlin; and siblings, June and David Poe, who will forever carry his spirit, his lessons, and his love within them. James is preceded in death by his father, Dan M. Poe; and a sister, Iris Fuentes.
Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, music, and love remains. His family takes comfort knowing he is now at rest in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully, reunited with loved ones and singing the hymns he cherished.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
