IRMA “PURI” RODRIGUEZ

PHARR - Irma “Puri” Rodriguez entered eternal peace on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1:14 PM.  She was born in San Juan de los Yeras, Las Villas , Cuba on April 26, 1934 to Luz Maria Yera and Armando Martinez. 

Puri came to Pharr, Texas with the Reverend Ovidio Amaro and his family, where she met the love of her life, Jose “Joe” Rodriguez.  They were married on October 4, 1964 and were blessed with one daughter, Ana Margarita Rodriguez-Gold (Jeff  deceased).

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and daughter.

Irma is survived by nieces and nephews in Cuba, Mexico, Texas, and Indiana, as well as special friends, the Brewster family of Pharr and the Amaro family of Florida. 

Puri, as she was called by everyone, started a business, “Mama Puri’s Day Care”, where she took care of countless children over the years.  She was an active member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr until the end of her life.

Her niece, Reyna Dodds of Carmel, Indiana would like to thank Jennifer Brewster, Iris Neely, and Claudia Herrera for the unconditional love and support provided to Puri especially during the last year of her life. She would also like to thank all her caregivers and especially the staff at DHR Hospice whose compassion and care for Puri was beyond measure.

Let us all remember a life well-lived. Rest In Eternal Peace, Puri!

Visitation will begin at  9 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
