Hector Hernandez, 74, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Dilley, TX, he had lived in La Feria for five years. Hector was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by a son, Hector Hernandez Jr.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his wife, Merced T. Hernandez; four children, Ruby Midkiff, Lamonica Ledesma, Cornelius Hernandez, Cyrus Hernandez; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Manuel "Boss" Hernandez Jr., Alamar Hernandez Castillo, Leticia Hernandez and Hermidia Hernandez Werdell.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
