PHARR - Luis G. Gutierrez, 88, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas in McAllen.
Born in Kingsville, Texas, Mr. Gutierrez had lived in Pharr since 1970 and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Iracema J. George; a sister, Virginia Salinas; and a brother, Telesforo Gutierrez.
Mr. Gutierrez is survived by his wife, Olivia P. Gutierrez of Pharr; six children, Nora N. (Jaime) Gonzales of San Juan, Gloria Elsa Gonzales, Nelida (Guadalupe) Salinas, Maricela Cantu, all of Alamo, Jose Edelmiro (Susana) Gutierrez of Brownsville and Luis Humberto (Aurora) Gutierrez of Donna; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jose Edelmiro Gutierrez of San Juan and Arturo Gutierrez of Harlingen.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m, Monday, July 13, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
