ANITA GUTIERREZ
ALAMO- Anita Gutierrez, 93, went home to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Donna, she lived in Alamo most of her life and was a long time member of Templo Emanuel. Widowed at 29, Anita became the head of her home with 11 children. She was a hardworking woman that dedicated her life to her family. Mrs. Gutierrez’ strong faith in God gave her strength and courage to overcome any obstacles. Her pride and joy was her family, especially her great-grandchildren who loved visiting and picking her oranges. Anita will be dearly missed forever by her family and friends.
Anita is preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Gutierrez; seven children, Santiago Gutierrez, Jr., Ruben Gutierrez, Rogelio Gutierrez, Dionicio Gutierrez, Enrique Gutierrez, Jose Luis Gutierrez and Israel Gutierrez.
She is survived by four children, Ramiro (Maria A. Pena) Gutierrez of Houston, Alicia (Guadalupe) De Los Santos of Edinburg, Elvira (Ruben) Lopez of San Juan, Francisco (Ofelia) Gutierrez of Arlington; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Maria Chapa of California, Elvira Perez of Pharr.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
