ALBERTO T. GONZALEZ
PHARR – Alberto T. Gonzalez, 91, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
Mr. Gonzalez was born in Pharr and had lived there all of his life. He worked for the Pharr Police Department where he drove the first police patrol car in Pharr. He then worked for Valley Fruit and helped set up plants in Florida and Colorado, where he met his wife Mary. Mr. Gonzalez later worked for the Texas Highway Department until his retirement in 1985 after over 30 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Gonzalez; his parents, Lazaro and Soila Gonzalez; and a brother, Luz Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by a son, Albert L. (Elia) Gonzalez of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; a daughter, Gloria Jean (Rudy) Zamora of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Sandee Zamora, Rudy Zamora Jr., both of Edinburg,Albert L. (Phyliss) Gonzalez Jr. of El Paso, Laura Lynne (Ricky) Teepee of La Porte; seven great-grandchildren, Tieler, Ricky (Emily), Brendan, Cassidee, Patrick, Sofia, Amelia; and cousins, Mario Gonzalez, Lee Gonzalez, Ignacio Gonzalez, Betty Alarcon, Moises Tamez, Ruben Tamez and Jesus Tamez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
