Gloria Guerra entered the Lord’s heavenly kingdom peacefully on the morning of August 29, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 86 in Harlingen, TX.
Gloria was born in the town of Los Aldamas, Mexico, on July 16, 1939, to Ramón Peña and Victoria Tanguma. In August of 1962, she married the love of her life, and together they welcomed six wonderful children over the following years. Her legacy of love and laughter blossomed into an extended family filled with beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. To those who cherished her most, whether she was known as “mom,” “Tita,” or “Tía Gloria,” her beauty and elegance are forever etched in our memories. When she wasn't enchanting you with her kind spirit, she was winning you over with her famously delicious tamales or tortillas de harina. With her ever-elegant presence, Gloria was always impeccably dressed, perfectly poised and glowing with the warmth of her radiant smile. Her unforgettably beautiful eyes always sparkled with joy for her friends and family. Her joy was most palpable in her cooking, singing, and dancing. Despite her petite frame, she carried an unimaginable amount of love in her warm embrace, and in return, she was deeply loved by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, José Amando Guerra and six of her siblings, Lupe, Mela, Cruz, Leicha, Beto, and Roumaldo.
Mrs. Guerra is survived by her six children, Juan Jesús (Jesse), María de Lourdes (Lulu), Felix Amando, Verónica, Noel, and Noemí; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one remaining sibling, Juve.
