SAN JUAN – Jesus M. "Chuy" Garza, 82, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. Garza was born in Edinburg and had lived in San Juan most of his life. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Adela Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by his wife, Josefa Garza, of San Juan; two daughters, Blanca E. (John) Avilez, of Alamo and Isabel (Jon Yelland) Widle, of San Juan; seven grandchildren, Anna (Troy) Camplin, Omar Flores, David Flores, Juan (Suhey Saenz) Avilez Jr., Alicia Avilez, Rex L. Widle and Aissa R. Widle; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carlos Garza and Juan Garza.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, June 3, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, June 4, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
