ELOISA DIMAS GARZA
PHARR - Eloisa Dimas Garza, 78, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, July 13, 2009.
Eloisa was born in Edinburg on July 17, 1930 to Cosimo Dimas and Luz Gomez Dimas and lived in Pharr most of her life. She loved to dance and enjoyed conjunto music. Raising her family was her vocation and she instilled in them a strong faith in God and his Blessed Mother. She had a special devotion to Nuestra Sra. Virgen de Guadalupe and her image adorned every room in her home. Eloisa was a faithful member of St. Margaret's Parish until the day she died; she was relentless in selling her raffle tickets every fall and was active with the St. Margaret's Church Bazaar committee for many years. She never wore black and loved bright colors and polka dotted dresses. She prided herself in rising early every morning, putting on her make up first then dressing up to face her day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cosimo and Luz Dimas; four brothers, Wilson, John, Dominico Dimas and Ramon Saenz; and two sisters, Emma Jean and Francisca Salinas.
Mrs. Garza is survived by her husband, Juan L. Garza of Pharr; four daughters, Ofelia (Miguel) de los Santos of Edinburg, Oralia (Cruz) Cantu, Sylvia (Ruben) Mancha, both of Pharr, Lilia (Hector) Rodriguez of Alamo; a son, Alejandro "Hondo" Garza of Pharr; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Noe Erasmo Dimas, Casimiro Dimas, Bruno Dimas; and a sister, Estella D. Guerra.
The family would like to give special thanks to her home provider, Alicia Macias, who lovingly cared for her for the past years. Eloisa claimed to have no favorites but loved her daughter Lala in a very special way because she looked in on her every single day. She also had a very special place in her heart for her only son Hondo, who lived with her for several years.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, July 14, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
