MANUEL R. GARCIA
PHARR - Manuel R. Garcia, 93, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Burgos, Tamps., Mexico, Mr. Garcia had lived in Pharr most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Francisca L. Garcia; a daughter, Maria E. Lopez; a sister, Guadalupe Gomez; and his parents, Ignacio and Librada Garcia.
Mr. Garcia is survived by five children, Manuela (Reynaldo) De La Cerda, Juan Manuel (Minerva) Garcia, Jose Ignacio Garcia, Yolanda Garcia (CarlosSolis), all of Pharr and Baldemar (Melda) Garcia of Alice, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, Santos Garcia, Victorio Garcia; and a sister, Monce Garcia, all of Pharr.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary, today, April 29, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
