ELIZANDRO GARCIA
EDINBURG – Elizandro Garcia, 79, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Mr. Garcia was born in Yorktown, Texas and had lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army and was employed by the Texas Department of Human Services for 23 years. Mr. Garcia was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Edinburg where he was a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and church secretary.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edelia Tijerina Garcia; his parents, Eliseo and Amalia Garcia; three brothers, Jesus Garcia, Eliseo Garcia Jr., Roel Garcia; and a sister, Elida Garcia Guerrero.
Mr. Garcia is survived by three sons, Robert E. Garcia, of Edinburg, David J. Garcia, of Warner Robins, Georgia, Paul I. Garcia, of San Antonio, Texas; and three sisters, Silveria G. Vela, of Houston, Texas, Ofelia G. Garza and Adela G. Garza, both of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 pm, with a 5 pm prayer service today, August 16, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton, in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 pm Monday, August 17, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
