PHARR - Gregorio Escamilla, 87, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Comfort House in McAllen.
Born in Los Ramones, NL, Mexico, Mr. Escamilla had lived in Pharr since 1981 and was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Luisa Escamilla; and a son, Gregorio Escamilla, Jr.
Mr. Escamilla is survived by four sons, Aristeo (Juanita) Escamilla, of Edinburg, Arturo (Aurora) Escamilla, of San Juan, Abelardo (Estela) Escamilla, of Warden, Washington, Armando (Diana) Escamilla, of Moses Lake, Washington; eight daughters, Gregoria Villarreal, Sandra (Luis) Martinez, both of Pharr, Clara (Mario) Suarez, Sylvia (Froilan Jr.) Campos, both of Pasco, Washington, Kathy (George) Legg, Hermila (Juan) De La Cruz, Graciela (Tomas) Guerra, all of Warden, Washington, Esmeralda (Sergio) Silva, of Marysville, Washington; 42 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Petra Martinez, of Progreso, Isabel Garza, of Mission, Albina Garza, Maria Serna, Luz Valdez, and Anita Garza, all of Othello, Washington.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, August 18, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday, August 20, 2009, at San Luis Gonzaga Catholic Church in Repueblo de Oriente, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Interment will follow at Panteon Dolores in Repueblo de Oriente, NL, Mexico.
Local services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
