Enrique Farias, 93, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Alicia Contreras Farias; a son, Eugenio Farias; two siblings, Edmundo Farias and Anita Olguin.
Enrique is survived by his daughters, Mariza A. (Joel) Garcia and Elsa Farias; five grandchildren, Joel Enrique (Ivonne) Garcia, Marco Antonio (Ruby) Ayala, Jr., Miguel Alberto Ayala, David Esteban (Noemi) Garcia, Daniel Angel Garcia; eight great-grandchildren, Alexyah Jaelynn Garcia, Jaedrien Joel Garcia, Eugene Josiah Garcia , Ariel Jasmine Garcia, Alicia Audrey Garcia, Mia Rose Garcia, Matthew Abram Ayala, Violet Rose Ayala; and six siblings, Emma Farias, Teresa (Pedro) Reyna, Gloria (Ruben) Garza, Guadalupe (Manuel +) Luna and Hector (Francisca +) Farias.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
The family extends their deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Genuine Health Care Services in McAllen, with special appreciation to LVN Rogelio Hernandez and RN Aidee Ibarra, for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedicated support.
