Emma P. Solis

PHARR — Emma P. Solis, 93, peacefully exchanged her earthly address for her heavenly address on Monday, September 21, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family in her home in Pharr, Texas.

Mrs. Solis was born in Los Aldamas, Nuevo León, Mexico. After the passing of both parents, she and her siblings moved to Monterrey, Nuevo León, where they began a new chapter together. Raised in a family known for its strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Emma learned the values of excellence, dedication, perseverance, and caring for others—qualities that became hallmarks of her own life.

She attended Beauty School, cultivating her natural gifts for beauty, esthetics, and fashion. A savvy entrepreneur, visionary, and innovator, she had a remarkable ability to see possibilities and turn ideas into reality. She possessed an extraordinary sense of elegance and style and created beauty wherever she went, from building and furnishing her home to cultivating beautiful gardens. Her creativity, resourcefulness, and attention to detail transformed her house into a warm and welcoming home.

After coming to the United States, Emma devoted herself to her family and lovingly raised her three children. She was an exceptional cook, seamstress, homemaker, and teacher who lovingly passed her skills and wisdom on to her daughters. She was wise, resourceful, and frugal, and everything she touched seemed to flourish.

Emma was the embodiment of a Proverbs 31 woman—strong, capable, diligent, wise, and devoted to her family. Her strength and resilience were remarkable, and she faced life’s challenges with determination and grace. She loved deeply, worked faithfully, and gave generously of herself.

Emma met her beloved husband of 62 years, Ruben F. Solis, through relatives. Their love story began through letters, and on December 27, 1959, they were united in marriage. Together, they built a life and family rooted in love, faith, commitment, and devotion. Their 62 years together were a testament to enduring love and the family that became their greatest treasure.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben F. Solis; her parents, Rodolfo and Florencia Perez Peña; her brothers, Maclovio and Ramiro Perez; her sisters, Didia Garza and Herminia Garcia.

Mrs. Solis is survived by her beloved son, Ruben F. Solis, Jr. (Bernadette) of McAllen; her daughters, Ofelia S. (Roel) Guerra of Rio Grande City and Diana Lisa S. (Victor) Morales of Comfort, Texas; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Emma P. Solis leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years alone. It lives in the family she nurtured, the home she lovingly created, the wisdom she shared, the beauty she brought into the lives of others, and the lessons she taught through the way she lived.

Her legacy of love, wisdom, strength, beauty, faith, vision, creativity, and devotion to her family will continue through the generations.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
