Eduardo Rene “Eddie” Sandoval
Pharr, Texas
It is with profound sadness that the family of Eduardo Rene “Eddie” Sandoval, 64, of Pharr, Texas, announces his passing.
Born November 12, 1961, Eddie was the beloved son of the late Audomaro E. Sandoval Sr. and Berta V. Sandoval and brother of Audomaro E. Sandoval Jr. and the late Homero Xavier “Homer” Sandoval.
Eddie graduated from PSJA High School in 1980, where he proudly played clarinet in the band and remained a proud Bear throughout his life. He later attended Pan American University. After working in hotel management in the Rio Grande Valley, Eddie became a Caseworker II for the State of Texas, serving children and adults, including cancer patients and their families, until his retirement.
Eddie loved deeply. He loved his Lord, was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and especially loved his mother. A devout Catholic, Eddie made his First Holy Communion at St. Jude’s, prayed the Rosary every morning and evening, and volunteered at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
In 2015, while a close cousin underwent a lung transplant, Eddie made a promise to St. Jude. In thanksgiving for his cousin’s recovery, Eddie walked eight miles from his family home to St. Jude’s Catholic Church and Shrine to fulfill that promise. His cousin survived and is alive today—a lasting testament to Eddie’s faith, devotion, and love.
Eddie loved chatting and catching up with family and friends, going out to eat, visiting those he loved, and taking his dog, Mikey, for walks. His infectious laugh could fill a room, especially when he entertained everyone by perfectly imitating the voices and mannerisms of family members. He was lighthearted, compassionate, fiercely loyal, and deeply devoted to the people he loved.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Homer. He is survived by his brother, Audomaro Jr. and wife Diana, his extended family, and many cherished friends.
Eddie often said, “Progress, not perfection.” His life reflected that belief through faith, service, laughter, loyalty, and above all, love.
May Eddie rest in eternal peace.
